There are a number of phones. There are cellular phones, and there are terrestrial phones. Both will be addressed in this section of the site. A cellular phone is any phone that will use the cellular network towers to make and receive calls. The current standard is 5G with also 4G support. Terrestrial phones will include DECT Phones, POTS phones, SIP phones, and Wifi Phones. To help keep things simple, POTS phones are obsolete, and no new POTS phones will be sold in the nation.
All phones are require to have the lettering system on the buttons. This allows a telephone number to sometimes spell out a word, or other easier means to recognize the telephone number. For example, a rental company might have their last 4 digits spell out RENT. The lettering placement is as follows:

- J, K, L
- M, N, O
- P, Q, R, S
- T, U, V
- W, X, Y, Z
By providing a standard for the number configuration, there will be assurance that the memorable letters will actually point to the appropriate number.
